I believe that a lot of people are working on new airport designs that leverage the new features of the 850 apt.dat file, and the new World Editor (WED) tool. I want to make sure that we do not duplicate effort, snce the increased level of detail that is possible also takes a lot of time to create in WED!

We can either list our current projects here in the X-Plane.org forums (in this thread?), or I can keep a list on my website. I would prefer to use the forum (no work for me!) and there is no latency.

For starters, I have completed KFHR (Friday Harbor) and am almost finished with KBFI (Seattle Boeing Field). Trundled around KBFI in a rented DA40 this morning to take some pictures of details … this is getting expensive! I may start KSEA (Seattle-Tacoma) soon.

Is this a good plan? Any better ideas?

I would have to say that the Raven is probably my favorite mini RC helicopter that we have here at HobbyTron.com. First I pulled it out of the box and it came with everything that I needed to get it up in the air. I didn’t even need my own batteries because it comes with a 9v battery which is all you need. After I got everything out of the box, I plugged the included wall charger right into the side of the Raven. A good rule of thumb to follow is to always double charge the battery the first time out, so that is what I did. It took just under 20 minutes for both charges. Of course with anything that flies, I needed to trim it out first. I put the mini helicopter on the smooth floor and throttled it up just enough to get it spinning. I kept the helicopter on the ground as I trimmed it out until it was not spinning. That didn’t take too long and I was off flying.

The Raven Mini RC Helicopter

I was very impressed at the control I had over this mini helicopter. I like the stability and the ease at which it flies right out of the box. I was able to fly for around 7 minutes before it became sluggish and needed a recharge. By this time my friend had arrived so I got another one set up and going. We could have flown three at a time, but there were only two of us, and that would have been pretty hard. After we both got our mini RC helicopters flying we decided to have an airborne dogfight. That was really fun, but when we noticed that in the box there were nose weights, the fun really began. We affixed the nose grips to the Raven which put it into attack mode. In attack mode it flies forward much more and we were able to knock each other’s helicopters out of the air. We had a lot of fun and are looking forward to the weekend where we will have more time to fly these fun mini RC helicopters again.

251007064151.jpgNow this is one gadget/clothing apparel that I could really say is uber nifty and cool, the Bladerunner children’s jacket with GPS tracking device. Bladerunner a company known for making some of the world’s coolest jacket apparel has teamed up with UK’s top GPS operator to come up with this jacket for your kids. But unlike your ordinary winter jacket, this one is equipped with a GPS tracker that when your child wanders too far around from you, a mobile phone alert will be sent to your mobile phone.

And here’s the coolest part, you can monitor the movement of your child who is currently wearing the jacket on a secured website. By paying a monthly charge of around $20, you can have a secured access to the said website which also gives a historical account of movements made by your child while wearing the Bladerunner GPS-equipped jacket.

The Bladerunner jacket is made up of lightweight material which specifically suits the needs of children. It is loaded with the latest GPS SiRF III Chipset which effectively tracks the movements of your children wearing the jacket. The jacket is operated by long lasting and efficient batteries so you don’t have to worry about losing your children because of low powered battery.

Another positive feature of the Bladerunner jacket is its fast signal acquisition. So, after tracking down your child and you immediately take off to fetch him, you are ensured that your child couldn’t have gotten too far away before you reached him/her.

And what’s more, you can train your child to seek help during an SOS situation by instructing your child to push 2 quick dial when your child gets lost.

To activate the mobile alerting feature, you have to set the boundaries where your child should wander around before the mobile alerting feature is triggered.
