New convert!
Well, ok then! I think my conversion to the dark side is now complete. After flying FS since 1999, I am ready to give X-plane a proper chance. I recently got v9, but have had v8 for several years now and only tinkered with it. V9 so far actually look as good on the scenery mesh (if not better) than FSX! The planes aren’t as nice, but I understand that’s not the point in X-Plane…
Looking forward to much flying!
Kevin

ClearThumbs Problem
A while ago, I produced ClearThumbs, a Python script that scans unzipped downloads for Thumbs.db, __MACOSX, .DS_Store and any file whose name begins with “._”.
But now it seems to be doing weird things, like deleting necessary panel files from Wehlipub’s (excellent) Focke-Wulf FW190A, which as far as I can tell, shouldn’t conform to the rules the script uses to decide what’s rubbish and worthy of being deleted and what isn’t.
So firstly, I’d like to know if anyone can replicate the behaviour that Wehrlipub found (preferably on a Mac); secondly can anyone explain it (more details below); and thirdly, does anyone know how to solve the problem?
The code:
import shutil
import time
workfrom = os.getcwd()
print workfrom
def IterLoop(activedir=workfrom):
for x in os.listdir(activedir):
currentpath = os.path.join(activedir, x)
if(os.path.isdir(currentpath)==True):
if(currentpath.find(”MACOSX”)>-1):
“Found a __MACOSX folder. Removing now.”
shutil.rmtree(currentpath)
else:
IterLoop(currentpath)
else:
if(currentpath.find(”.DS_Store”)>-1):
print(”Found a .DS_Store file. Removing now.”)
os.remove(currentpath)
elif(currentpath.find(”Thumbs.db”)>-1):
print(”Found a Thumbs.db file. Removing now.”)
os.remove(currentpath)
elif(currentpath.find(”\._”)>-1 or currentpath.find(”/._”)>-1):
print currentpath + “is rubbish. Deleting.”
os.remove(currentpath)
else:
pass
IterLoop()
print(”Finished. ClearThumbs has removed all Thumbs.db, __MACOSX, .DS_Store and ._abc files.”)
time.sleep(3)
The names of the files it should delete (I think):
• “._fw190a9_cockpit.png”, which is in the top-level directory of the unzipped aircraft;
• “._panel with pedals.png”, which is in “Cockpit/-PANELS-/”
And the name of the file it shouldn’t delete, but does anyway:
• “panel with pedals.png”, which is also in “Cockpit/-PANELS-/”

ClearThumbs Problem

We received a brief race report from the opening of the newly resurfaced Barceloneta RC Speedway that now features a new larger layout. Kyosho team driver Geovannie Gonzalez took the TQ spot by 7 seconds, but unfortunately the rain came down before the finals and the race was cancelled, so the results were taken from qualifying giving Gonzalez the win ahead of Team Magic racer Miguel Daumont in 2nd place, while 3rd place went to Xray driver Fernando Mendez.
Barceloneta RC Speedway in Puerto Rico will host the CopaLatina race on July 18th, 19th & 20th, go here for more information.
