VRC Column – VRC Pro is WYSISWYR…
R/C simulators have some very special features which make them the ideal simulation, more than any other type of simulation game. The most important feature is the nature of r/c (for remote or radio control) itself. Being in a remote position to control the car means that there is no other feedback than through seeing and hearing. R/C racers have developed special skills to control their cars by what they see and what they hear and translate that to their hands to operate the radio. A real car or flight simulator lacks for instance the all important feedback from G-forces generated by the car or airplane when it turns, accelerates, climbs or dives. R/C racing is purely an audiovisual experience so if what you see and hear on your monitor is an almost perfect simulation of the real world (track and car behavior) and if you can control your car with your own radio then you have the perfect sim! We call this WYSIWYR, What You See Is What You Race…
VRC has established itself as the leading r/c racing sim and VRC Pro will build on this legacy and take it to the next level. The visual experience will be greatly enhanced with the use of the very latest computer graphics technology with our own XANDRA© graphics engine. The car behavior, controlled by our own physics engine, is second to none. 8 Years of development have gone into this very important and essential part of VRC. For VRC Pro the physics have been pushed even further with a new nitro engine and electric motor physics engine and a complete new collision system for more natural car-to-car and car-to-environment interaction. Add to this the pit table centered graphical user interface and worldwide multiplayer racing and you will have the most perfect simulation of radio controlled model car racing anyone can wish for.
NATIONS CUP RACING IN DECEMBER
Called for by many VRC racers, VRC will organize 2 Nation Cup events in December 2009. The best 5 finishers from each country will be awarded points for the Nations Cup and the country with the most points wins the Nations Cup. The interesting aspect of this format is that it promotes the collaboration between racers from the same country as they now have a common interest to perform well. Set-ups are exchanged and race strategy shared, something that racers normally keep for themselves. Only a real team effort can win this event for your country. The 1:8 sportscar race will be held at the Sydney track in Australia. The 1:10 sedan race will be at Cincinnati using the 2002 lay-out. Visit the VRC website for further race announcements.
ANTONELLO PARISI REIGNS AT VIRTUAL WORLDS
Just like the illustrious 9x IFMAR World Champion Lamberto Collari, this other Italian, Antonello Parisi, reigned at the virtual Worlds at the very same Lostallo track. In qualifying he had to settle for 2nd just 1.4 sec behind Giorgio Mingotti, but from then on it was Parisi all the way till the finish line in the 45 minute main final which he won with a 6 second margin over Mingotti and a full lap over the strong performing Aussi Chris Stack. Parisi also won the quarter and semi final in commending style. A total of 310 racers from all over the world competed in this race.
The qualifying results were incredible close to the real Worlds results. The difference was just 0.014 sec for the fastest lap, and just 3 seconds on the complete 10 minute qualifier, mainly caused by the chicane in the pitlane to slow the incoming cars down, something that was not provided for at the virtual Lostallo track.

Simon Kurzbuch wins final round in Switzerland
The last round of the Swiss Championship took place last weekend in Langenthal in the north of Switzerland. On Friday the track was already very crowded and the organizer prepared the asphalt with 75 liter of CocaCola to improve the grip. Nearly all expert drivers attended this last event, among them also Shepherd driver Marco Müller, who secured himself the Swiss title already in the round before. During qualifying it was young Shepherd driver Simon Kurzbuch who took TQ honors. He already showed his talent during the World championship when he reached the 19th position after qualifying. Marco Müller claimed the 2nd place in the starting grid for the final.
The four direct qualifiers were:
1. Simon Kurzbuch – 33 laps 7:03,083 Velox
2. Marco Müller – 33 lapps 7:03,501 Velox
3. Shasa Lackner – 33 laps 7:04,731 Motonica
4. Mattia Pesenti – 33 laps 7:07,652 Motonica
At the start of the final Kurzbuch could defended his lead followed by Müller. But soon Müller dropped down because of battery pack problems and Simon could increase his lead to 1 1/2 laps. Unfortunately in the middle of the race the glowplug of Kurzbuch broke and he lost some time in the pitlane. His mechanic Hans-Peter Hulliger did an excellent job and changed the glowplug along with the tyres for the last 25 minutes. 3 laps down in 9th position Kurzbuch rejoined the race. With an outstanding performance he caught up the lost time and 6 min before the end he managed to unlap himself to get back on the lead lap. 3 minutes later Kurzbuch already showed up behind the leader Shasa Lackner. When he was preparing his attack for the lead, Lackners engine blew up and the way was free for Kurzbuch’s first victory of the season. After a great recovery he crossed the finishing line in first position, followed by Luca Martinelli and Thomas Henzi.
Final standings
1. Simon Kurzbuch – 202 laps 45:03,856
2. Luca Martinelli – 200 laps 45:06,407
3. Thomas Henzi – 199 laps 45:06,619
