RC Vehicles Word of the Day: Fail Safe

Date: 4 Jan 2010 Comments: 0

Fail safe is a funny word. It sounds like it denotes a safety failure – a bad thing. Actually, it’s what you call a device that provides protection (a good thing) when there is a safety failure.  And some RCs have a fail safe. When you’re in the market for a nitro RC, check the specs and see if a fail safe device is included. If not, consider adding one. If you’ll only be running around in your backyard at slow speeds  – and there are few if any obstacles (trees, buildings, sleeping dogs) then you might not need one. But if there will be other RCs around and anything that you might crash into then get a fail safe, to be safe.
