Toy Fair 2010 – Associated
Associated have been showing of their new line of RC18, with the introduction here at the show of the T2 and B2. No longer shaft driven the new cars resemble mini B44 buggies with their 2 belt drive and slipper clutch. Supplied as an RTR, they have been redesigned from the ground up and also come with a new servo saver and with the company’s 2.4Ghz radio system. The bodies too have been given a redesign to freshen up the line an accommodate their new internals.
Taking pride of place on the Associated booth is the new officially licensed Rockstar SC10 short course truck which the company have put a lot of effort into to bring a realistic look. Not supplied with the standard SC10 body, they have redesigned a new shell that is closer to the car is meant to be replicating. Other products on the stand, we have already covered prior to the show, were the B4.1 and T4.1 which are RTRs with 2.4Ghz radios and the new line of SC18 small scale short course trucks. The latter are on display here at the show with a wide range of officially licensed shells.
Toy Fair 2010 – Agama
New to the scene, Taiwanese based Agama have presented their new car at the Buggy Sport Racing booth. The new A8 Evo, which we are told has been aided in development by a top Spanish driver is a rather conventional buggy with some unique features that may set it apart. The most visible change is around the centre diff, where the normally top plate is now mounted layed down, which we are told helps prevent the chassis twisting under braking which causes the car to turn slightly.
Staying with the brakes, they use pistons to apply even pressure to the brake pads, in place of cams which turns the plate at an angle. On all 4 corners the new ‘Mega Bore’ shocks are 3mm longer than Kyosho shocks and 1mm larger diameter, while for the radio equipment it can be moved around to easily help you adjust the balance of the car to your liking. Also neat is the inclusion of integrated skid plates front and rear, with the latter actual set into the chassis plate to avoid it catching and subsequently peeling up.
Agama will also produce a limited special edition which will feature a number of optionals as standard and will be anodised orange. Included in this version and to be as an optional for owners of the normal version, is the new engine brace which spreads over the length of the chassis to increase stiffness. Up front there are aluminium front axle bearing holders in aluminium in place of the standard plastic. Available in April.

Toy Fair 2010 – Hudy
Slovakian company Hudy, who are sharing the stand with Xray, have introduced their new Starbox for 1/8th scale off road. Carrying on from the compact on road starter box that was introduced at the fair last year, it can take normal NiMh packs as well as LiPos and a neat feature, besides its diminutive size, is the inclusion of extra long feet which can be attached to raise the box in order to also start 1/8th scale truggies.
Other new items include a new fuel bottle, handy little compartmented plastic hardware boxes, a branded rubber bead mat and the addition of a new 1/10th scale 2wd and 4wd off road setup system. For gas car engines, Hudy have released some great bearing and insertion removal tools for both 2.1cc and 3.5cc engines and of course because they are Hudy you can be sure they will be great quality and an ultra precise fit.
