Toy Fair 2010 – Speed Passion
Speed Passion have a presence here at the fair, shairing a booth with UK distributor Schumacher Racing. Amongst other things they are showing off their new line of Citrix speed controllers, some of which we have covered before. New for the show there is the Cirtix Inspire 2.0, a high performance sensorless ESC that can support up to 4000kv with 2 cell LiPo, and the Cirtix R8 1/8th scale brushless ESC that can support up to 3000kv with 4 cell LiPo.
Speed Passion also chose the fair to release its range of RTR cars that inlcude the RS2 1/10th scale 2wd stadium truck and the 4wd 1/10th scale shaft driven touring car. The RS2 is supplied with the sensorless Cirtix RR ESC and 1/10 4000kv motor as well as coming with the company’s new 2.4Ghz transmitter. The RS1 comes with the Cirtix Inspire 2.0 ESC and Sport tuned V2.0 3000kv sensorless motor as well as the new 2.4Ghz radio. Both are pre wired with high current 14AWG wire and use the ultra high active power 2P battery connectors.
Speed Passion also had two prototypes on display of their Ananta short course truck and 2wd stadium truck, both of which have a forward mounted motor and are made from prototype material.
Toy Fair 2010 – LRP
LRP have a shiney new presence at the Toy fair with their impressive new 2 level booth, in which they were showing there latest and greatest products. Drawing much attention for its value for money, the new S10 Blast BX is a 150 euro 1/10th scale 4wd electric powered buggy. For that price you get a neat little buggy which comes pre assembled with painted body, all electronics built in, including the battery, a 2.4ghz radio and a wall charger. Definitely a good deal and a good starter car for anyone looking to enjoy the fun of offroad. As you progress you can of course upgrade the car to suit your abilities with multiple performance enhancing optional parts to become available.
Continuing on with the cars, LRP have shown off the final S8TXe RTR truggy, which comes supplied with the SPX8 ESC as well as the Vector 8 brushless motor, in fact all you need to get running, with the exception of the LiPo battery packs.
On the electronic side of things there is a new range of 50C packs in various different configurations with the most powerful being the 5900mAh stick pack, but you can also now get a 5600mAh stick pack, a 5000mAh saddle pack and a 5400mAh 1 cell pack. LRP also displayed their new A2-STX Pro 2.4ghz transmitter, which offers high value for money due to it low cost. Featuring end point adjustment for both channels as well as a fail safe and the benefit of no interference this is a great starter radio system.
Finally in the VTEC line, LRP have released the Banzai, which features a special pin design with an additional reinforcement pattern for optimal driving response and great stability. Perfect for tracks with little dust or dust free conditions and are great for long finals due to its durability.
Toy Fair 2010 – Various 2
Swiss Team Magic distributors HRC distribution were showing of the prototype Team Magic M8ER 1/8th scale brushless buggy. Set to become available in March, it comes pre assembled and is supplied with the HARD 1/8th scale brushless ESC and motor. Team Magic will also sell conversion kits for their current 1/8th scale gas buggies to convert them to brushless power.
Displaying on the stand of Swedish company Minicars is a new time keeping system from a company calling themselves Dirt Champ Design. The timing system is aimed at racers that want to check their own times on practice days or for clubs who want a simple timing system. Sold as a package with the hardware, which is placed next to the track on the supplied tripod, and the timing software, the unit can handle an unlimited number of their own unique transponder and is completely wireless using bluetooth. It is powered using a LiPo cell and can be charged with the supplied USB cable, while the transponders use the power from a BEC or RX pack. Set to be available in April.
Also on the Minicars stand is the company’s own line of brushless motors called the DynoMax X-series and they will be available in 3.5T, 4.5T, 5.5T as well as 13.5T and 17.5T.
Toy Fair 2010 – HPI Racing
HPI Racing have displayed the new stiffer version of their popular Blitz short course truck. Called the ESE it stands out from the crowd with it white plastic, but the changes are not just cosmetic as it helps improve performance and together with other upgrades including the aluminum shocks and rear motor mount, this car is aimed more at the short course racer. HPI also had on display, their complete range of optionals for this car, most of which we have covered previously.
Other items of note where the full option version of the Pulse RTR buggy, which comes pimped out with carbon and machined aluminium and the new 1/32nd scale RS32 cars. These cars are available with replica touring car and regular sedan bodyshells, while you can also get a race ready carbon version of the chassis which resembles a small racing pan car.
