Joerg and Uwe Baldes will race for Mugen Team Germany in the 2010 season. With the successful and established chassis of the Japanese manufacturer Mugen Seiki the brothers will enter the 1/8 as well as the 1/10 scale nitro class. Both will mainly compete in races in Western Germany and also at the German Nationals in both categories. Furthermore they are looking forward to international races with the World Championship 1/10 in Houston/Texas as an expected seasonal highlight. “We are delighted about this new challenge and the opportunity to enter both classes with Mugen“ said Joerg and Uwe Baldes. “We especially look forward to the new MRX5, a real innovation on the 1/8 scale market.”
“In many respects Joerg und Uwe Baldes mean a strengthening of our German team”, says Stefan Habbecke of Mugen Seiki Europe (MSE), based in Gelsenkirchen/Germany. “Both of them we wish lots of success and plenty of fun in the Mugen team.”
Racing since 1993, each of the brothers became German Champion in the 1/10-235mm class and entered the final of a 1/8 European Championship (B) once. Furthermore, Uwe finished fourth at the 2002 World Championship 1/10-235mm in the USA, Joerg Baldes made it to the final of the 2009 German Championship 1/10.
Looking back to recent years, Joerg and Uwe Baldes stated: “We would like to thank Motonica and Maurizio Ficcadenti for three interesting years. Likewise we want to say thank you to Anke and Bertram Kessler of SMI Motorsport for the good times with the Xray NT1. We will continue this proven co-operation with SMI as we will start with Novarossi-based Orcan engines into our first season with Mugen.”
